REI 2006 Sponsored Projects
Founded in Seattle in 1938 by a group of mountaineers seeking quality equipment, REI now has 3 million active members and operates 89 retail stores nationwide, two online stores – REI.com and REI-OUTLET.com – and an adventure travel company, REI Adventures. REI was recently listed on FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For in America.” REI has been included in the rankings for 10 consecutive years.
REI currently has 5 stores in NC and has announced another store in the Charlotte area to be opened in spring 2008.

John Graham, president of FSP, presides over the presentation of a $5000 grant from REI to purchase canoes for the new Haw River State Park. John led the grant application effort working closely with the Haw River park personnel. Lewis Ledford, Director of North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation looks on.
